Our family trip began with a flight from Australia to London. The time we had to work with was almost three weeks. We found it difficult to choose where to go in Europe with kids because there are so many places we all want to visit. This ended up being our final family itinerary for London, Paris, and Germany by train. I hope it gives you some inspiration for planning your own family UK/Europe itinerary.

London 3 nights
Arriving in London we had to make our way to the Airbnb we had booked for 3 nights. Our tight budget and lack of booking time meant we were staying outside of the city in Orpington. Read our post, London with kids on a budget to see what we did during our stay in London.
Train journey:
Eurostar London to Paris, 2 hours 30 mins
Paris 3 nights
We arrived in Paris in the evening and got the wrong subway meaning by the time we reached our hotel it was quite late. Our 3 nights in Paris were spent at Ibis Styles Paris Massena Olympiades. Read our Paris with kids 3-day itinerary.
Train journey: Paris Station Gare de l’Est to Mannheim station, 3hours. We actually had tickets to Frankfurt but after changing our itinerary we decided to get off a stop early in Mannheim.
Mannheim 2 nights
Mannheim is probably a strange place to see on our family itinerary of Germany. We had originally planned to go to Frankfurt but changed our minds and decided we wanted to visit Heidelberg. As we had left booking so late, we couldn’t get accommodation in Heidelberg so, stayed in nearby Mannheim. We stayed in a tiny but adorable apartment and day-tripped to Heidelberg. We also used our time in Mannheim to wash all our clothes in a laundromat and let the kids run around in a city square.
Train journey: Mannheim to Nuremberg via Stuttgart, 2 hours, 15 minutes.
Nuremberg 3 nights
Our main reason for staying in Nuremberg was to visit Playmobil Funpark. We spent the other day walking around seeing sights and visiting the Nuremberg Main Market.
Train journey: Nuremberg to Munich, 1 hour, 10 minutes
Munich 2 nights
We spent 2 nights in Munich at ibis Styles Munich East. In Munich, we visited Marienplatz and watched the figurines move around the town hall clocktower. We strolled through the English Garden, visited The Munich Residence, spent time in Hofgarten, and ate delicious schnitzels at Andy’s Krablergarten.
Train journey: Munich to Füssen via Kaufbeuren, 2 hours.
Füssen 4 nights
We spent 4 nights in an Airbnb in Füssen where we viewed the famous Neuschwanstein Castle and loved our stay among nature. Read why we think Füssen is worth a visit.
Train journey: Füssen to Augsburg, 2hours. Augsburg to Stuttgart, 1hour 45 minutes.
We stopped in Augsburg to view the old city and got lunch from a bakery.
Stuttgart 2 nights
We stayed 2 nights in Stuttgart at B&B Hotel Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. While in Stuttgart we visited the Porche museum and took a train to Leonberg to view half-timbered buildings.
Train journey: Stuttgart to Paris, 3 hours.
Paris 1 night
We took an early train to Paris so we could spend the day sightseeing before spending 1 night.
